India Design Week (IDW) 2027: Empowering the Next Generation of Design Innovators

India Design Week (IDW) 2027 is a national-level platform that inspires engineering students to transform ideas into impactful design solutions through innovation, creativity, and technology. In its 10th edition, IDW 2027 will bring together aspiring engineers from across the country to solve real-world challenges using Autodesk technologies.

The event will feature specialized learning and competition tracks in Fusion and Revit Architecture, enabling students to gain hands-on exposure to industry-relevant design tools and workflows. Through faculty mentoring, workshops, activity-based learning, and competitive challenges, participants will experience the complete journey from concept to creation.

IDW 2027 will be conducted across North and South India, expanding opportunities for students to collaborate, innovate, and showcase their talents before academic and industry experts.

Open exclusively to students from ICT Academy member Engineering Colleges and Universities, India Design Week 2027 aims to nurture future-ready talent and strengthen the culture of design-driven engineering education in India.

This Design Event provides an opportunity for students to convert their Conceptual Ideas into Digital Products with the help of Autodesk Fusion/Revit. Registered Students can give their design ideas a jump-start by sculpting their imagination and innovation with technical support from the best minds in the country.

Background

Design remains a crucial discipline, even amid the disruptive changes driven by technology. It will continue to be a core human endeavour, fuelled by insights, ideas, passion, and the talents of individuals striving for progress. Innovation and creativity are the key ingredients of design, leading to scalable solutions that can transform every field in our nation.

India Design Week 2027 will bring together students to showcase their ideas for a better future through products developed using Autodesk Fusion/Revit.

Note: A specific design theme will be revealed on the day of the event.

Institution Registration

Colleges will be selected from each state (from north and south India separately)

Institutions must ensure that they meet the required Hardware and Software for this Event, and domain mail ID is mandatory.

Faculty Workshop

Faculties will learn Autodesk Fusion/Revit (according to their enrolment) through Workshops (Three days faculty workshops will be conducted directly at the respective institutions) and courses are to be completed.

The Mentors will provide a list of eligible students interested in Product Design Engineering Using Fusion from the 2nd year, pre-final year, and final year of the Mechanical Engineering stream, including Automobile, Aeronautical, Agriculture, CAD/CAM, and Bio-Medical branches, as well as a list of students interested in Revit Architecture from the 2nd year, pre-final year, and final year of the Civil Engineering and Architecture stream.

For every college 2 Mentor is mandatory for each training (Fusion/Revit) and all mentors are to be present in the final IDW 2027.

Workshops will be conducted by ICT Academy Certified Experts

Faculties have to train the registered students and make the students ready for the Design Now Competition.

Student Workshop

Students will learn Fusion/Revit through Workshops (3 Day workshops will be conducted directly at the respective institution with 15 days gap between each workshop) and courses are to be completed after the end of each workshop. Completion of the courses are mandatory to attend the next day workshop with the attendance.

Workshops will be conducted by Trained mentors from their Institution

Activities & Assignments will be provided after each session which students need to complete to gain a certificate.


Design Now Competition

The Design Now Competition is a 1-Day exclusive competition Conducted in Each College, Top one team in each college selected at the end of student event.

Students will present their design or students will submit it online, which will be evaluated by the Jury panel based on Creativity, Design Specifications, Manufacturing Feasibility, Material Selection & Presentation

The best one team from each college will compete in the IDW 2027 Grand Finale in their respective (South/North) zone.

2 Inter-state level events (North and South India zones) will be conducted in the month of December 2026

The top teams from the selected colleges will compete in a 24-hour challenge based on the problem statement provided.

Teams will present their final design based on the provided theme

The top 3 teams from each zone selected by the jury panel will be recognised with Prizes

Special recognition will be given to teams that stand out in certain criteria

Pre-Requisite

System Configuration

1. PC/Laptop is mandated with functional Microphone and Webcam

2. Microsoft Windows 8 or above (Windows 10 is recommended), Mac IOS also supports FUSION

3. CPU: 64-bit Operating System only supports FUSION installation (32-bit OS is not compatible with FUSION installation, but can run FUSION in Browser mode)

4. Memory Size: Min 4 GB (8 GB is recommended)

5. Connectivity: 5 Mbps internet bandwidth

6. Storage space: 5GB is recommended to install the FUSION

7. Graphics Card: Min 512 MB is required, or 1 GB inbuilt graphics card is recommended

8. Optical mouse with a functional keyboard


Note: Students having a system with the above requirement are eligible to register for the IDW 2027.
