About the Project

Sustainability education for graduating students is crucial given the pressing global challenges we face. The IPCC emphasises the need for urgent action to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels to prevent catastrophic impacts. At the same time, the World Economic Forum highlights environmental risks as major threats to international stability. With around 1 million species at risk of extinction due to human activities, it has become increasingly important for graduates to grasp the interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic systems. Moreover, sustainability knowledge enhances employability, as 86% of employers value it, and businesses actively recognise the financial benefits of sustainability initiatives, leading to better economic performance and stock market returns.

In continuation of their illustrious partnership in empowering the next generation of graduates, ICT Academy and Honeywell venture into another unique initiative to train pre-final year college students in Sustainability Studies that will ramp up their impact as professionals in organisations and on the world. Establishing Centres of Excellence for Women / Youth Empowerment on Sustainability Studies in Uttarakhand, Delhi NCR, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, this program will deliver a new wave of abled professionals who can contribute to sustainability globally.

  • About Honeywell

    Education & Skill development

Honeywell Hometown Solution India Foundation aims to provide quality education and skill development opportunities to students, especially school dropouts, college dropouts, and unemployed youth from the marginalized sections of society and improve the quality of training infrastructure. There is a dire need to focus primarily on children as they hold the future of the country and shoulder the responsibility for a better India.

    Holistic Rural Development

The idea of rural development is a parochial one in colloquial language, however, with the evolution of time and awareness among people, focused holistic rural development has come into play. In India, with more than 70 per cent of the population residing in rural communities, it is imperative to create a holistic environment with inclusive development of the communities concerning Education, Health, and Hygiene (WASH), Upskilling and empowerment, Energy, environment etc.

    Gender Equality

HHSIF aims to coordinate and converge efforts that are needed to ensure the survival, protection, and empowerment of the girl child and to ensure the prevention of gender-biased sex selective elimination, survival & protection of the girl child and act as a catalyst for education and participation of the girl child across India.

    Nature Resources and Environment

The advent of technological advancement, increase in population, economic activity and maximum utilization of resources has a hazardous impact on the environment. Rapid growth of population and unplanned urbanization results in acute shortage of water in Metros and surrounding areas. There is a dire need for interventions that not only help in conserving natural resources but also restore the damaged ecosystem and natural habitats.

    WASH

India ranked 10th out of 11 Asia Pacific countries in a newly launched health index that measures the readiness of health systems in adopting personalized healthcare. Inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in India’s health facilities, contribute to the high neonatal mortality rate, which is currently 24 deaths per 1000 live births. Thus, it is imperative to carry out activities that provide a holistic solution to communities. The Sustainable Development Goals have committed to supporting local communities in improving water and sanitation management. HHSIF has aligned itself to sustainable development goal 6 (Clearwater and Sanitation) and is contributing to India’s attempt to achieve easy access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation and hygiene for all in the next fifteen years.

    Disaster Management

Disaster management efforts aim to reduce or avoid potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and appropriate assistance to the victims of a disaster, and achieve rapid and effective recovery. It is crucial that hospitals remain safe and functional during and after disasters. NDMA recommends Prevention, Mitigation, Capacity Building, and Preparedness as the way to deal with a disaster as it helps the community to understand how to anticipate, absorb, and adapt to such events.

    COVID Relief’19

The unprecedented occurrence of the COVID’19 pandemic has made the world adapt to the new normal. However, it has caused a grave impact on the lives and livelihood of the people. It has further increased informality and led to a severe decline in earnings for most workers resulting in a sudden increase in poverty. It is vital for organizations to come forward during this humanitarian crisis and ensure the timely delivery of relief efforts and critical medical resources such as vaccines, PPE kits, and medications to help people in need.
